Data security policies at the Commission for the Protection of Discrimination 

The Commission for Protection against Discrimination (CPD) is an independent specialised state body for the prevention of discrimination, protection against discrimination and ensuring equality of opportunity. The CPD is the controller of personal data which is processed in the course of, or in connection with, the exercise of its powers under the Protection against Discrimination Act (Article 47) and other legislation on: 

1. establishment of violations of the DIPR Act. or other laws governing equality of treatment, the offender and the person concerned; 

2. ordering the prevention and cessation of the infringement and the restoration of the original situation; 

3. the imposition of the penalties provided for and the application of administrative enforcement measures; 

4. issuing binding prescriptions with a view to compliance with laws governing equality of treatment; 

5. appealing against administrative acts issued in violation of laws governing equality of treatment, bringing actions before the courts and intervening as an interested party in cases brought under the Discrimination Act. or other laws governing equality of treatment; 

6. making proposals and recommendations to the state and municipal authorities for the cessation of discriminatory practices and for the repeal of their acts issued in violation of laws governing equality in treatment; 

7. maintaining a public register of the decisions and binding prescriptions it has issued; 

8. providing independent assistance to victims of discrimination in filing discrimination complaints; 

9. conducting independent research on discrimination; 

10. examining and resolving the cases brought before it. The CPD collects, processes, stores, provides, transfers and destroys information containing personal data in accordance with the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 - General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
