On 10 May 2024, Iva Valchanova-Yordanova, Regional Representative of the CPC for Shumen Region, organized and held an information meeting in the municipality of Smiadovo. The meeting was attended by mediators, social workers and people with disabilities.
Those present were briefed on the composition and activities of the CPC. The protected grounds of discrimination in the DCDiskr Act were explained. The procedure for referral to the Commission was explained.
The proceedings and decisions of the CPD were presented. Attendees were informed about the ongoing open-ended Accessible Bulgaria Campaign, which aims to provide an accessible environment for people with disabilities in the country.
It was stressed that within the framework of the campaign, the CPD conducts independent assessment of the accessible environment, initiates proceedings and imposes the sanctions and compulsory administrative measures provided for in the law to ensure the creation and maintenance of an accessible public environment for people with disabilities.
