On 16 April 2024, Shirin Kasab, Regional Representative of the CPD for Dobrich Region, held an open reception in Kavarna Municipality. During the reception, a working meeting was held with Ana Peykovska - the new coordinator of the CPD.
The regional representative presented the activities and functions of the Commission, gave explanations on the Discrimination Act, which regulates protection against all forms of discrimination and assists in its prevention in different spheres of public life.
Emphasis was placed on Chapter Two - Protection against Discrimination of Section I. Protection in the exercise of the right to work. Joint initiatives were agreed with the assistance of Ms Peykowska.
After the reception Shirin Kasab held an information meeting with Stefka Stoyanova - representative of the service unit for people with disabilities. She was familiarized with the activities and functions of the CPD, the Act on the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. and how to refer discrimination to the Commission. She was also informed about the ongoing open-ended campaign of the CPD “Accessible Bulgaria”.
The regional representative of the CPD also inspected the building of the National Social Security Institute (NSSI) in the town. Kavarna, whether there is an accessible environment for people with disabilities. Photographs were taken of the site and the facilities serving people with disabilities.
At the meeting with Yulia Angelova - representative of the National Social Security Institute, explanations were given on the Law on the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the protected signs set out therein. She was informed that in addition to the receptions held by the regional representative in the constituent municipalities of the Dobrich region, the CPD's open-ended campaign “Accessible Bulgaria” is being conducted.
