On 28 February 2024 the Regional Representative of the Commission for Protection against Discrimination (CPD) for Varna Region Orlin Kissov visited Suvorovo Municipality, where he organized and held an open reception for citizens. After it, he had a working meeting with representatives of the municipal administration - Eng. Lilia Ilieva - Director of the “Administrative Services and Humanitarian Activities” Directorate, Penka Kirova - Senior Specialist, and Dimitrichka Dimitrova - Social Activities Assistant.
The participants were acquainted with the competences and powers of the CPC and discussed the possibilities for organizing future joint initiatives with informative and preventive orientation to help the citizens. Ms. Ilieva briefly presented the projects that Suvorovo Municipality is working on to help its population and with care for vulnerable groups. One of them is the Personal Assistance Mechanism. It provides assistive support to people with disabilities. The social service “Assistant support” is aimed at representatives of the third age, children and adults with disabilities. Another project, aimed at representatives of vulnerable groups, is “Home Care” under the Human Resources Development Programme. At the meeting it became clear that the Municipality of Suvorovo has provided for its citizens and on-call office, which provides medical assistance outside working hours of personal doctors. Prior to this, patients were forced to attend an emergency room in Varna.
