Members and representatives of the Commission for Protection against Discrimination (CPD) were on a working visit in Veliko Tarnovo Region.
The purpose of the visit was to present to the state and municipal authorities the Law for Protection against Discrimination and the activities of the CPD, as well as the National Campaign for Accessible Architectural Environment under the title “Accessible Bulgaria”.
The Chairperson of the Commission for Protection against Discrimination Ana Dzhumalieva handed over to the Governor of Veliko Tarnovo Prof. Dr. Lyubomira Popova a certificate certifying the accessible architectural environment of the building of the regional administration.
It was emphasized that within the framework of the campaign “Accessible Bulgaria” the accessibility of the urban infrastructure and the buildings of the public institutions is being studied, with the aim not only to identify the sites that do not meet the accessibility requirements, but also to show the best practices.
Four more sites received certificates for accessible environment - Regional Library “P.R. Slavejkov” in Veliko Tarnovo, Complex for Social Services in Polski Trambesh, “Vicho Grancharov” Secondary School in Gorna Oryahovitsa and “Panorama” Hotel in Veliko Tarnovo.
The CPC was represented by Prof. Dr. Ana Dzhumalieva, Chairperson, Prof. Dr. Baki Husseinov, Vice-Chairperson, the members Dr. Vladimira Stoimenova, Zlatina Dukova, Sofia Yovcheva and Nasko Atanasov and the Secretary General Prof. Dr. Nadezhda Yonkova.
