On 12 June 2024, at the invitation of the International Institute of Management, Orlin Kissov, Regional Representative of the CPC for Varna Region, took part in an international seminar “Skills for Green Transformation of Tourism”.
At the event, it became clear that the EU is determined to make Europe the first climate neutral continent by 2050. This ambitious course, supported by a series of policy frameworks, legislative changes, strategies and investments, is significantly changing every sector of the European economy, labour market and people\'s behaviour.
The green transformation is not bypassing the tourism sector, which is undergoing increasingly dynamic changes. The hosts from the International Institute of Management pointed out that ESCO (the European Classification of Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations) has already defined green skills and their role in certain professions, but the Bulgarian education system as a whole is not able to respond fast enough to the green economy trend. Attention was drawn to the need to train and retrain the workforce with a set of well-defined and practice-oriented green skills for tourism.
During the seminar were presented best practices of Lithuania and Turkey in the field, as well as practical applications of green skills in cooking.
